ANSWER: In a patient with asthma, leukotrienes, prostaglandin and histamine acts to cause bronchoconstriction, inflammation amd obstructuon of airway. The mechanism by which they cause this traid is not similar. Leukotrienes itself cause the increased secretion of mucus resulting in the obstruction of airway. It is known to cause bronchoconstriction. As it is an inflammatory molecule it is seen in inflammation. Prostaglandin D2 is a potent bronchoconstrictor and it causes the bronchoconstriction of airways in patients of asthma. They inhibit the mucociliary clearance, increased blood flow and they attract and activate the leukocytes. Histamine released from the mast cell is bronchoconstrictor, increases the bronchial secretion. It is released from mast cells when the cells are triggered by sensitive agent.
