Stretch reflex

It is a protective reflex that take place in the body to protect our body from harm

The main parts of knee jerk reflex. It is a monosynaptic reflex which has only one synapse in between the motor and sensory pathways

The first part is the muscle spindle that will be stimulated by the tap causing it's stretch. When this stretch is detected the la afferent fibers take the signals to the spinal cord to synapse at the alpha - motor neuron. This cause the antagonist muscle present over the region to be inhibited and agonists to contract the muscle . Then the quadriceps will contract and hamstring will relax

It is a monosynaptic reflex
