The alimentary canal is the passage from which food passes through the body to the mouth during digestion. The major part of the digestive system is the alimentary canal whose continues muscular to run through the body. Gastrointestinal tract which is also called a digestive tract in which food enters from the body and solid waste is expelled.

The organs of the alimentary canal are:

  • The Mouth and Oral cavity--- Intake of food takes place
  • Esophagus-food moves in the form of bolus
  • Stomach-Food is digested by digestive juice and enzymes
  • Small intestine-This absorb nutrients from the food
  • Large intestine-They egest the food to excrete

Crop is the part of chicken's digestive system which is located in the breast. Gizzard is also present in chicken to grit the stones.
