Why doesn't all the blood exit the heart during systole? Hence the ejection fraction
The heart usually functions by contraction and relaxation. During contraction, the blood gets ejected from the two ventricles called pumping chambers. During the relaxation process, these pumping chamber- ventricles get refilled with blood. But inspite of the contraction pressure, the pressure is never enough to pump all the blood out of the ventricles and they usually pump out the amount of blood that is needed by the human body at that time.
Hence, there is always a percentage of blood and not the complete amount of blood that gets pumped out of the ventricles that are filled with blood with each successive heartbeat.
