According to the concept of ventricular compliance, which of the following statements are true?

A) Decreased compliance implies that for the same pressure, volume is larger.

B) Increased compliance implies that if volume is the same, pressure must be higher.

C) Increased compliance implies that for the same pressure, volume is smaller.

D) Decreased compliance implies that if volume is the same, pressure must be lower.

E) Increased compliance implies that for the same pressure, volume is larger.

Answer #1

Ventricular compliance is the ability of ventricles to accomodate large volume of blood with increase in pressure.
If the ventricular compliance decrease, the pressure may rise but the volume may remain unchanged as seen in ventricular hypertrophy.
If the ventricular compliance increases, the volume in the ventricles rises but the pressure may remain unchanged.

So the correct statement is d. Increased compliance implies that for the same pressure, volume is larger.

Which of the following statements is not true according to the laws of thermodynamics? Group of answer choices Work depends upon the themodynamic process. An equilibrium state of the system can be characterized by its internal energy. For an isolated system, the internal energy is either constant or increases. The change in internal energy for a system interacting with the environment is equal to the heat minus the work. Pressure and volume describe the state of the system.
