◦ Describe why an aneurysm is dangerous and explain how deep vein thrombosis in the
lower limb could cause pulmonary embolism.
An aneurysm is an abnormal dilation of a vessel due to weakness in the vessel wall. So the weakened vessel wall will no longer withstand the pressure inside the vessel and sooner or later the wall gives away and leads to rupture of the aneurysm. This will cause severe bleeding and sometimes may cause sudden death. So aneurysm is always dangerous
Deep vei thrombosis is the clot forming in the deep veins of the leg and this thrombus may dislodge over time and can make into an embolus. The embolus thus freely enters the inferior vena cava and thus enters the right heart. From there it is pushed into the pulmonary vessels where its get blocked and leads to pulmonary embolism. This will cause impaired perfusion to the lungs thus causing problems
Hope this helps.... Thank you!!!!
