Scoliosis is the one of the deformity which is seen due to the abnormal curvature of the spine.

Our spine or the spinal column or vertebral column is also called as the backbone which provides the structure to the axial part of the body and let us stand straight and maitain a proper posture and movement.

There are 33 bones which makes our spine of which 7 are in cervical region ( neck ) 12 in thoracic region ( chest) 5 in lumbar region ( abdomen ) and 5 bones in sacrum and 4 in coccyx.

INTRODUCTION

Now scoliosis is the abnormal curvature of the spine due to any causes that makes the spine or gives spine S or C shape is called scoliosis.

Most of the times the reasons of the causes of the scoliosis are unknown and it is found that girls are more prone for the scoliosis as compared to males.

The probable causes of the scoliosis are found that they are due to any

CAUSES

• Genetic distance
• Cerebral palsy or neurological disorders
• Birth defect these can be some causes that can cause the scoliosis.

Scoliosis is found to be seen in various age group which is divided on the basis of age also that they can be in infant which are upto 3 years , in the juvenile age upto like 10 11 years , in the adolescence age which near 18 years of the age and in the adult after 18 year of age.

This can be due to genetic or neurologic cases and most of the times.they are considered as the idiopathic which is unknown cause.

These are some symptoms that are associated with them and these are like

• Uneven posture of the body that one shoulder is unevenly disturbed in forward or upward direction.
• Pain in the back
• Hips looks to be uneven
• Sometimes dyspnea because are of chest is reduced etc.

These are diagnosed one the basis of the causes only as we have seen that there are few causes that are either cerebral palsy or neurological problem or the birth defects or the muscular defect.

So these are diagnosed with the physical exams as there is shape change and can be observed by the physical examinations.

More diagnosis is done on the basis of the

Ct scan , MRI , and some bone examinations to rule out other possible causes.

TREATMENT

TREATMENT IS LIKE either bracing is done or the survey

Bracing is done some cases making the body spine straight by adding some plastic or other type materials

And in surgery grafting is done of the spine.
