Sources of criminal law:

1. Common law: It is also referred judge-made law. Once a court passes a judgement for a problem, it is binding and valid in all the other courts facing the same legal issue.

2.Constitution: All countries have their own constitution and they have subordinate local laws for them.

3.Statutes and ordinances: In some cases, the state legislatures pass some ordinances which become valid further.

4.Appellate court decisions: Legal opinions made by appellate courts having legal status are valid.

5.Administrative rules with criminal penalties: Agencies such as Federal Trade Comission (FTC) and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) formulate rules, and impose sanctions.
