Answer #1

Professionalization is very important nowadays as it defines the acceptable behavior inside and outside the organization. An organization that follows professionalization and ethical guidance is a successful organization and those who don't will suffer loss or perish overtime.

In corporate world, a firm's reputation is a big contributor to its success. Corporate managers are often found guilty of acting unethically. For example when Volkswagen revealed that it had installed software on million of its car to trick Environmental Protection Agency's emission testers into thinking that their cars were more environmental friendly, then investors left the company. This made the company lose roughly up to $20 billion in market capitalization.

Professionalization in management includes having appropriate communication channels in an organization which can encourage good managerial behavior. Verbal communication can make a strong perspective over the interpersonal relationship of the employees and managers. For example, when people in an organization communicate, they discuss the problems in their behavior and how they can overcome it.

Professionalization also improves intercultural communication. For example, when employees sitting in two different countries share their beliefs, ideas and values, it would maintain the mutual respect and harmony at all levels in the organization.

Professionalization of management would provide a greater sense of responsibility for the management. It would mean that the members of the profession would be expelled if they did not live up to the standards. For example a doctor losing his/her medical license when found guilty of unacceptable medical practices.

Implementation of professionalization of management would require some conditions such as:

  • It would require certain type of code that guides or allows managers to decide appropriate or ethical behavior.
  • Professionalization of management would be able to control - who belongs to the profession.

Without any closure, any code of ethics or value would not be recognized as a norm.

Professionalism teaches managers to accept new challenges and develop such management strategies which would help in the organization's overall growth and development.
