Must you be a trained statistician to draw valid conclusions from the use of BI tools? Why or why not?
That is how the question is worded in the book.
It depends on what kind of conclusions/inference you want to derive from the BI tool visualizations.
For example, no knowledge of stats is required when you are
doing a descriptive analytics.
As in you want to what values are present in any data field, what
is frequency of it, data trends over time etc.
Sometimes, basic knowledge like mean/median/mode is needed to get
more clear insight into data.
However, if you are using BI tools to show advance insights like how two variables are correlated, smoothing the trend lines, show output of a model etc. then a statistician would be able to do it best.
