1. Identify the unit of analysis in each of the following studies and formulate a plausible working hypothesis between the independent and dependent variables in the formal way discussed at length in class
(a) A study about whether multinational corporations’ perception of a government level of corruption affects their amount of investment in that country their amount of donations to charitable organizations
(b) An experiment investigating whether exposure to fake news items through social media affects individuals’ level of trust in government
(c) A study investigating whether the age of state legislators affects their views toward homosexual marriage
(a) The perception of government level of corruption is the dependent variable as it is on the MNC's will decide looking at the governments corruption report to invest in the country to give proper donations to the charitable organisations which is the independent variable
(b) The elements of social media will have an affect on the trust in government at any level, so the fake items affect will be the dependent variable as it will drive to keep up the trust in any government which is the independent variable and is highly dependent on the fake news circulating
(c) Age will be the dependent variable in this course as it will definetly afftect someones view on homosexual marriage as being said that people with higher age might oppose to the idea of this type of marriage so it makes the driving factor in this case an explanatory or dependent variable
