Homework Answers

Answer #1

1a) Total cards = 52

Number of 5's = 4

Number of ace's = 4

This is with replacement, so number of cards wouldn't change for the next trial.

P(a 5 then an ace) = (4/52)*(4/52) = 1/169

Hence, 1/169 is the probability for this.

1b) Total tickets possible = 1000 (from 000 to 999)

Till 299 we have to take so selected tickets = 300 (from 000 to 299)

Number of even numbers from 300 to 999 = 350

So, total favoring numbers = 300 + 350 = 650

P(either even or less than 300) = 650/1000 = 0.65

Hence 0.65 is the probability for this.
