  1. Mandy and Jeff speculated that the different geographic areas that they identified by ZIP codes would have different reactions to the prospect of patronizing a new upscale restaurant. Are these anticipated differences substantiated by the survey? Perform the proper analysis and interpret your findings.

This was the survey question:

26. Please check the letter that includes the zip code in which you live.

A. (1 & 2)

B. (3, 4, & 5)

C. (6, 7, 8, & 9)

D. (10, 11, & 12)

20 people are in zipcode A

120 people are in zipcode B

220 people are in zipcode C

40 people are in zipcode D

I think I'm suppose to use Anova in Excel to test this, but I am not sure. :( Can someone help me?

Answer #1

Assuming the population from which the sample is drawn the most appropriate model to determine the reactions to the prospect of patronizing a new upscale restaurant is ANOVA.

Reason :

1. In case of comparison of an attribute more than two group ANOVA is the suitable technique.

2. Also, the sample size in each group is more than 10 which is a required condition for the ANOVA test.

3. Also, assuming the equality of variance in the four groups the ANOVA becomes the most suitable technique for this analysis.

In the end you will be able to interpret

1. If any of the four ZIP code reactions to the prospect of patronizing a new upscale restaurant is different from rest or not ( using Global f test )

2. Whether the certain pairs of ZIP code reactions to the prospect of patronizing a new upscale restaurant differe or not. ( using post hoc analysis of t test )
