a. When constructing a frequency distribution, what problem would arise from using the following class intervals: 0 - 10, 10 - 20, 20 to 30 ... 90-100?

b. Since a histogram is basically a graphical representation of the same data in a frequency distribution, what important advantage has a histogram over a frequency distribution?

c. What is a frequency distribution and what is its purpose?

Answer #1

a) generally for the above class intervals the upper bound of previous interval is lower bound of next interval. So that the number for that bound can count doubally.

eg. If there number 10 which fall first interval as well as in second interval.

This problem arises in constructing frequency distribution.

b) histogram graphically shows the distribution of the sample. Also the histogram is constructed by using frequency

distribution. From histogram we can easily tell variation in data as compare to frequency distribution.

C) A frequency distribution is a tabular form of statistics. Each entry in the table contains the frequency or count of the occurrences of values within a particular group or interval, and in this way, the table summarizes the distribution of values in the sample.
