Acme Corporation manufactures light bulbs rated to last 300 days. A sample of 20 bulbs are tested and last an average of 290 days, with a standard deviation of 50 days. Given this data, construct a 80% confidence interval for the mean. What is the value of t from the table? What is the confidence interval?

Compact fluorescent bulbs are much more efficient at producing light than are ordinary incandescent bulbs. They initially cost much more, but last far longer and use much less electricity. According to one study of these bulbs, a compact bulb that produces as much light as a 100 W W incandescent bulb uses only 23.0 W W of power. The compact bulb lasts 10000 hours, on the average, and costs $ $ 11.00, whereas the incandescent bulb costs only $ $...

8.A manufacturing company of light bulb claims that an average light bulb lasts 500 days. A contractor randomly selects 30 bulbs for testing. The sampled bulbs last an average of 490 days, with a standard deviation of 100 days. If the claim were true, what is the probability that 30 randomly selected bulbs would have an average life of no more than 490 days?

The Inconvenient Light Company advertises that, on average, its CFL (Compact Fluorescent Light) bulbs last more than 4600 hours. To test this claim using a 2% significance level, a statistician plans to take a random sample of 97 bulbs and measure the amount of time until each bulb fails. The lifetimes of the 97 bulbs in the sample had a mean of 4656 hours and a standard deviation of 490 hours. The value of the test statistic for this sample...
