A family of South Africans, a family of Canadians, a family of Filipinos, and a family of Mexicans live in four houses on the same street and block.  Each family owns a single, but different pet, including a dog, a parakeet, a goldfish, and a cat.  From left to right, the Mexicans live between the South Africans and the Canadians. The parakeet’s and the dog’s family is not the Filipinos.  The cat lives two houses away from the parakeet.  The Mexicans do not own a dog nor a cat.  The Filipino family lives to the left of the South African family.  If the dog does not live on either end of the street, which family owns the goldfish?

Therefore, the South Africans must be the ones owning a dog.

Hence, the canadians are left with goldfish

Thus, Fillipinos own a cat; South Africans own a dog; Mexicans own a parakeet; Canadians own a goldfish
