Answer #1

We want to find, the value of x for f-test with given degrees of freedom and probability.

Using Excel we find, the value of X,

Command: = FINV(probability, df1, df2)

a) P(F(6, 15) >= x ) = 0.025

Command: =FINV(0.025, 6, 15) = 3.41

The value of X = 3.41

b) P(F(6, 15) >= x) = 0.050

Command: = FINV(0.050, 6, 15) = 2.79

The value of X = 2.79

c) P(F(6, 15) < x ) = 0.025

=> 1 - P(F(6, 15) >= x) = 0.025

=> P(F(6, 15) >= x) = 1 - 0.025

=> P(F(6, 15) >= x) = 0.975

Command: = FINV(0.975, 6, 15) = 0.19

The value of X = 0.19

d) P(F(6, 15) < x) = 0.050

=> 1 - P(F(6, 15) >= x) = 0.050

=> P(F(6, 15) >= x) = 0.950

Command: = FINV(0.950, 6, 15) = 0.25

The value of X = 0.25
