Employee Bad News: Refusing Holiday Season Event
in the past your office has always sponsored a holiday season party at a nice restaurant. as your company has undergone considerable downsizing and budget cuts during the past year, you know that no money is available for holiday entertaining.
Your Task. as executive vice president, send an e-mail to Dina Gillian, office manager. Dina asked permission to make restaurant reservations for this year’s holiday party. Refuse Dina, but offer some alternatives. how about a potluck dinner?

Dear Dina Gillian,

I am writing to you with regard to your previous e-mail to me. I am aware that it is the time of the year when we sponsor a party for the team at a fancy restaurant. However, I deeply regret about not being able to grant you the permission to make a booking for the annual holiday party. The organization has been at a loss which explains the downsizing and budget cuts. There are not enough funds for me to be able to organize a party this year. I sincerely apologize for the same.

However, having said that, we could continue the tradition of annual party by getting all the members of the team involved in a potluck dinner. I think, it'll be a fantastic idea to get together and bring in the holiday season as a group. I would request you to consult the rest of our team members and let me know of their thoughts and opinions on the idea.
