I'm still confused about constraint relation, re-encoding, and elaboration in the Representational Change Theory. Can someone help??????
When faced with a novel situation according to the Representational Change Theory ,when a block occurs to solve the problem our long term memory is searched for the solution. But when there's still the block or hurdle for the solution, it is removed by" elaboration":when new informations are added to the existing one,"constraint relaxation": reinterpretation of rules,"re- encoding": removal of functional fixedness. Thus, the block is removed and insight occurs for problem solving or the change in mental representation helps to solve the novel problem.
