Answer #1

Descartes proposed the concept of an ‘evil demon’, capable of presenting a complete illusion of the world, that would lead an individual to perceive the demon’s illusion as reality itself. He put forward this concept to highlight the pitfalls of relying on our sense organs, that only represent a version of the reality around us. Taking this thought forward, one can never rule out the possibility of living in a virtual reality because we depend on our sense organs for all the information in the world. We cannot perceive over and beyond what our senses tell us, and it is possible that it is merely being stimulated to create a version of reality that we experience.
