Do you expect people to suffer from dementia as they age? If so, what is the basis of your opinion?

Answer #1

In my opinion, expecting people to suffer from dementia as they age is a highly generalised statement and would imply that all older adults are bound to suffer from it. Dementia includes a range of symptoms that are associated with several aspects of physiological and psychological functioning that are severe enough to greatly restrict an individual’s day to day activites. It occurs during the later years of the human developmental span but does it not affect all old people. Many older adults are able to lead a healthy and an independent life. Thus I would not expect people to suffer from dementia as they age.
