The early adult has a fully-formed personality. Typology, or the study of human personality differences, has a long history both in the East in places like India, and in the West in ancient Greece. It is at once fascinating because it purports to tell us something important about ourselves, and yet its history is riddled with fads and flaws.
Carl Jung's typology can certainly be reduced to a parlor game, but if it is understood in the way Jung understood it, it is a powerful tool for exploring not only our relationships with other people but our own psyches and how they develop. We could even say that Jung's typology, when seen in all its depth, is identical to Jung's psychology as a whole. It can provide us with a very personal way to live out what he called the process of individuation.
Because part of successful adulthood is self-understanding you will be exploring your own typology in this unit. Go to the following website and take this 72-question test. It is simple yes/no responses so it will not take that long, Below is the website address. Go to that site and read the explanation - at the bottom of that page there will be a link that says, "Go to the Jung Typology Test." This is where you actually start the test when you click on the button at the bottom that says, "Do It."

After you get your results, participate in Discussion #6 with comments on any or all of the following:
1. Were your results consistent with how you have assessed yourself in the past?
2. What were the major new things you learned about your personality type?
3. Do you think this test provided an accurate evaluation of your psychological type?
4. What implications does your results have in the major areas of early adult development e.g. school, career, marriage, family. You may also comment on implications in accomplishing Erikson's intimacy versus isolation task.
5. What is your general opinion of tests such as these?
