In this discussion, you will examine the effects of industrialization and globalization through an anthropologist’s lens using the concept of cultural relativism, which was first introduced in Module One. The discussion will take the form of a debate in which you will examine sweatshops—places where garments are made quite cheaply, usually in less developed countries—as either places that offer valuable opportunities to workers or places that oppress workers.

Sweatshops oppress workers |
The multinational companies give contracts to companies in less developed countries or the developing countries were they get cheap labors. The workers are hired at cheap rates on a contract basis at these sweatshops by the contract companies. Simet these workers are made to work overtime without any additional perks and benefits. Though these sweatshops provide employment to the poor people, but, they are exploited more by contract companies, and also because the multinational companies do not care how their products are manufactured in the offshore units. Thus, these factors of globalisation and industrialisation exploit and oppress the workers.
