Previously in Muslim community, one group of people believed that they should select their own leaders but the other group elected Ali, his cousin and son-in-aw as the leader. Although the community have chosen a political and religious leader, the followers of Ali encouraged his leadership. Ali’s sons, Hasan and Hussein also continued their leadership and the community of Muslims slit over this issue. The friend of Mohammed, Abu Bakr was the first caliph, after him Umar became caliph. After Umar, another friend of Mohammed Uthman became as caliph. But people believed that Uthman favoured his own family and forgot about the community.
