I need some ideas.

You will select one topic that you will use throughout the course. For this assignment, you are to use the scientific method to design two research studies; one that involves basic research and another that involves applied research, both on the same topic area.

Research can be done using any methods. Reasearch is basically a systematic approach to finding answers to a tentative question we have.We arrive at a conclusion using different methods to arrive at this answer.Basic research involves collection and gathering of data for theory development.For example if you are doing a research on child development you gather information on how a child in each stage goes through the development stages.Quite often basic reasearch does not fully help us in the finding.

Applied research provides data to support the theory. For the same example on development of child, practical application can be done by doing a testing method by taking a sample size of 15 children or so in a school and analyzing with the basic data we have on the theories.Basic research and apllied research are interelated.
