Is this ethically wrong. why and why not?
You have access to a lot of data in the company. You have been talking to another company about a job opening there. When they finally made you a firm offer, and indicated a very attractive salary and attractive benefits, you were excited and ready to accept. But then they hinted that they knew you had access to a lot of data about your current company (customer lists, planned products), and that they expect you to copy such data onto a flash drive and bring it with you.
It is ethically wrong to share the information of a company to another company. It is a confidential information of that company and that information should not be disclosed to other parties. It is also against the law to share trade secrets to the competitor. The uniform trade secrets act prevents any person from sharing trade secrets and doing so can cause legal action on the person as well as the company involved in it. It is morally wrong to to take someone's information and give it to others as it is a form of stealing, and it also violates the trust which a company has in its employees.
