Discuss how the humanistic theorists (Rogers, Maslow, and Frankl) might respond to this question from a potential client: "I have been a patient of Dr. Steve Smith, who is a psychoanalyst. He feels that I need three years of therapy to explore my id-ego conflicts (He said I need to regress back to my childhood repressions, whatever that means). I am feeling somewhat depressed, and feel that no one likes me. I think I'm too much of a loner, although I value my privacy a lot. Can you help me, or should I stay with Dr. Smith?"

According to Carl Rogers, the feeling of loneliness is learned by experience which influenced the behavior at the period of childhood, the cognition plays an important role to learn. In this situation where the client is feeling alone can be produced by the cognition of situations.
Abraham Maslow was a strong influencer in humanistic psychology, his theory of need to determine the condition complained by the patient. The conflict between id and ego might be raised by need attribution, if a person unable to satisfy their need can experience conflict, because the id lead the rigid desire while ego control the behaviour so if a person is experiencing conflict between id and ego, it means he wants to satisfy some need which is not allowed by ego.
Viktor Frankl was neurologist so he would see this situation according to biological view, the conflict between id and ego can be possible by an imbalance between some neurotransmitter, on the other hand, a person who is experiencing mental problems can be considered as biological problematic.
In my opinion, the conflict between id and ego can be well defined by the theory of psychoanalysis because it addresses the psyche and unconscious mind.
