If you work for a private employer at an office complex, can you go ahead and exercise your “free speech” rights in that workplace and that private employer must honor the 1st amendment free speech right? Why or why not?
Although there are legal freedom of speech gives one enough freedom to exercise one’s opinions freely, every company has their rules and regulations that govern all the employees while at work. The amendment suits the social and political life of the people and doesn’t involve in the rights of the private companies. Some companies go to an extend where they would limit their employees in providing information that would defame the organization. Although, all the employees have equal opportunity to express themselves in terms of their rights within the limits of the company law, they won’t be able to express whatever they like while they are at work.
