I just need the work to be shown for these two questions, thank you!
Qualitative and Quantitative research
Qualitative Proposal
What percentage of M&M’s are green?
17%
All M&M’s in a 10oz. Bag
Simple random sample: I will go to the store and buy and 10 ounce bag of M&M’s. Then I will open them and without looking record the color of each M&M.
Quantitative Proposal
What is the average number of siblings my facebook friends have?
2 siblings
All of my Facebook friends
Systematic sample: I will go to my Facebook friends list (Alphabetical Setting) and ask every other person how many siblings they have until I reach 120 responses. I will record each response.
Answer 1.
In a 10oz bag there are approximately 5000 M&M candies:
And M&M candies come in 6 different colors: red-orange-yellow-green-blue-brown
In qualitative proposal, assuming each color have similar numbers in the bag.
That is 5000/6 = 833 M&M for each color, but from the data the red and orange candies have higher numbers that the other colors, they (green & oranges) are higher by 2 to 3% in a bag.
Thus, the initial percentage of each color was 100/6 = 16.7%
but the green would have . (same numbers for red, while brown, blue and yellow had around 14-13%)
Answer 2.
Quantitative proposal
As number of data points taken are 120. The general number of siblings in a family are between 1,2 or 3
where 2 has the maximum probability, thus in large observations for N=120, the result would be near to 2.
