Question text
A standard 120V ac source, connecting wires, and two ideal identical transformers are available. Each transformer has a different number of turns in the two coils. How many different voltages can be supplied to a circuit using these resources? (Consider that the ideal transformers can be flipped in the circuit so that Nprimary can be larger or smaller than Nsecondary).
Select one:
a. Five
b. Four
c. Three
d. Two

Homework Answers

Answer #1

As given the material are :

2) Identical transformers

Connecting wires

120 V source

So we can give fivr different voltages

1 by dirctly supplying the input ac source

1 by connecting the transformer in Gain mode which will amplify the voltage according to Number of turns

1) by connecting the same transformer by connecting it in reverse mode which will reduce the voltage according to the no of turns

1) by coonecting the two transformer at a time with one tranformer with input 120 ac sorce and output of this tranformer to other transformer which will amplify the voltage

1) by coonecting the two transformer at a time with one tranformer in reverse mode with input 120 ac sorce which will reduce the voltage and output of this tranformer to other transformer in reverse mode which will reduce the voltage further

So total is Five
