Full form of PACS is Picture Archiving and Communication system

This is an imaging technology which is extensively used in the field of medical science to keep electronic images under heavy security and send them out electronically (digitally) .

PACS is mostly used in departments of radiology where a radiologist has to take million of X-Ray images. With PACS he/she doesn't need to manually keep the images, as he/she can store them in a secure server and access it anytime. It provides a digital platform to manage the workflow of different patients. It also provides an interface to utilize the image according to the purpose ( increasing brightness, contrast etc) which would have been impossible manually. The radiologist can easily transmit the stored image using PACS to other departments digitally.
