Light makes an slope of 450 with the space and time axis. As nothing can travel greatere than speed of light, so all the points inside or on the cone are related to the event which is the intersection of the two cones.

The cone that points to negetive direction of time axis represents the past and the cone that points to the posetivedirection of the time axis represents the future. The plane t = 0 represents the present.
