I tested newtons third law by creating a mathematical model with crashing carts traveling at the same speed towards each other, the second set had the same concept but now with 200 g added to one cart. In order to test the force we attached force sensors to each collision cart. I clearly remember all steps and information from the experiment but I'm having trouble creating a mathematical model with equations and comparing the two to prove or show the truth to newtons third law. I would really like some help, for variables I have weight of carts, forces of each cart traveling towards each other, time it took for carts to crash, with logger pro. Please help, Id really like to understand the concept better. Also how to cal standard deviation
to derive the mathematical form of Newton's third law, you need to show that the amount of force a cart gives to the second will also have the same reaction force.
Firstly you have the force at time of collision. that is very good. That mean you ave the action and now you have find the reaction force and have to show both are equal. To do this, if your collision is purely elastic, then calculate the speed of each after collision. From their you can calculate the force. This is your reaction force. Now just compare.
