1. What glassware should be used to prepare the buffers with PH: 1.68, 4.09, 6.86 and 9.18. Why?

2. If you are measuring to 0.01PH units and the average PH of your buffer is 9.31, what variation in PH is allowed to maintain a 1% accuracy for 3 trials?

Answer #1

1. Borosil provides a wide range of laboratory glassware. Commonly glass beakers are used for the preparation of buffer solution, as they are non-reactive, chemically inert, lightweight and easy to handle. Also, the buffer solution prepared can be stored in reagent glass bottles for some time. Beside Borosil there are many other brands that provide high-quality laboratory glassware.

2. Since you are using a scale of 0.01, to maintain 1% accuracy (are u sure I guess that should be 1% error) maintain your pH between 9.21 to 9.4. In between this value, the error will be 1% and less.

note: +1% of 9.31 is 9.4031

-1% of 9.31 is 9.216

but the scale is 0.01, so it can be measured between 9.21 to 9.40
