what is the relationship between moisture content Vs time?

what is the relationship between moisture content Vs drying rate curves?

Answer #1

Answer 1:

As drying temperatures increased moisture percentage decreased and as drying time increased moisture content decreased as well. Moisture percentage decreased faster at higher temperature than at low temperature.

Answer 2:

The moisture content falls rapidly at first but as the grain loses moisture the rate of drying slows. In general the drying rate decreases with moisture content, increases with increase in air temperature or decreases with increase in air humidity.

an oak pole having an initial uniform moisture content of 45% is placed in a drying kiln where its surface moisture is maintained at 15 wt%. under the specified drying condition, the drying was controlled by the internal diffusion of liquid water to the surface. if the maximum moisture content of the pole is set at 25 wt%, how long must the 10-cm-diameter by 45-cm-length pole be dried? Neglecting drying from the cylinder ends.

Shipments of coffee beans are checked for moisture content. High moisture content indicates possible water contamination, leading to rejection of shipment. The µ indicate the mean moisture content (in percent by weight) in shipment, and more than 10% will be rejected and standard deviation is known to be 2%. (a) If 10 measurements will be made on beans chosen, at α = 0.05, what is the power of test if the true moisture content is 12%? (b) If we want...

Raw whole apples with a moisture content of 87% (wet basis) are peeled and cored before being sliced and dried to 7.5% moisture content (wet basis). 18% of the raw apples mass is lost due to peeling and coring. Assume the peels and cores have the same moisture content of the rest of the apple. 1.) How many kilograms of 87% (wet basis) apple slices (already peeled and cored) are needed to make 30 kg of fried apple slices at...

The maximum moisture content that can be tolerated in a wooden drum (1 ft in diameter and 2 ft long) for use in a textile machine, is 20% per weight. The drum, initially having a moisture content of 35% (per weight), is placed in an oven where the moisture content is maintained at 5% (by weight). For how long the drum must be dried when: a) the ends of the drum are closed with a vapor barrier? b) the lateral...

The moisture content of 20 tonnes of grain is to be dried from 20% to 15% (wet-basis) in 10 hours. Determine the weight of grain after drying. Exhaust air in a grain dryer has a temperature of 30°C and a relative humidity of 60%. If the exhaust air makes contact with an uninsulated ceiling above the grain, find the lowest ceiling temperature at which condensation will not occur on the ceiling. If the plenum temperature is 45°C, calculate the required...

A charcoal briquette is formed with an initial moisture content w0. The briquette is approximately spherical with a radius R. It is placed into a forced air dryer which produces a lower surface moisture ws at the surface of the charcoal briquette. This sets into motion the drying process of the charcoal briquette. (a) Define the system and draw a schematic that describes the process. (b) Write and simply the general differential equation for mass transfer. (c) Write and simplify...
