Answer #1

Performance measurement is a very important aspect in todays world of business because in order to encourage, retain and motivate employees it is very much required and organizations should be effective enough to maintain such parameters. There are various types of performance measurement methods that re being in use in the industry and I believe the most commonly used method is the Management by objective method in which the employees are assigned objectives or goals and based on the performance regarding such goals the employees are evaluated.

In the University of Bridgeport as an HR professional while creating the performance appraisal form for all the employees the basic and common parameters will be:

1. Deliverables meeting the schedule - This implies that the deliverable that the employees possess is delivered on time or not and this is evaluated based on a rating of 1 to 5 or a percentage value. If the score is high then it means that the deliverables in most of the cases are delivered within schedule or before schedule.

2. Adhering to the organization processes - The employee needs to adhere to the basic norms and regulations of the organization and hence they should be in compliance so that the organization and the employee both is at good terms with each other. This is basic hygiene working in an organization.

3. The quality of work - Quality of work is a major factor and is evaluated based on the feedback from the client or the internal quality and assurance team and the feedback is considered as important for the employee to evaluate this goal.

The criteria relevant only to the position of public safety officer that needs to be evaluated are:

1. Law implementation for the employees - The laws that are implemented for the employees and the action of the law on the employees that they need to abide by in order to maintain legal betterment.

2. Law implementation for employers - The regulations for employers in order to ensure that no legal violation occurs and the organization maintains the legal aspects.

3. Level of safety maintained - The law and regulations enacted are to maintain the safety aspect of the organization as whole so that the organization and the employees are safe from legal and any other violations in order to remain competitive and sustain in the industry.
