A Leader is a person who not only leads from the front, but also pays due importance to create a suitable environment for his/her team to flourish. It is only but natural that while working in teams, people will have their own thoughts and ideas and will want to have the last say. Thus this sets the premise of an environment where things can flare up easily if not controlled in a timely manner. Conflict they say is good for the growth of any organisation as long as the conflict is meaningful and is controlled from the very begining. One never attains pathbreaking things with status quo. It is only when one pushes himsefl/others to achive more, can wonders happen. Thus while working in a setting where every individual has been assigned his/her own role, some may feel that they are working more than a few others yet do not get their due importance when time comes for recognition. This causes many conflicts to arise.
A Leader should have the basic temperment to solve any conflict that may arise in his/her team. But more importantly, he/she should ensure that the situation does not turn hostile for any of the party involved in the conflict. Thus in this situatio, one needs to create a "safe environment" where people are able to express themselves in a free and just manner without any prejudices. It is only in this safe environment that any conflict arising within or outside a team can be settled amicably as per the guidelines of the organisation.
For this a Leader needs to be firm in his/her decision without being biased to any party aggrieved. He must be patient enough to hear out both the conflicting parties before coming to any logical decision. In this way, not only will he be able to take a proper decision, but also come across as a compassionate individual who can set things right. One must remember that while resolving conflicts, Leader should always remember the environment under which untowardly incidents might have occured.
