Some magazine and billboard advertisements show a picture of a product, mention the brand name, but have virtually no verbal content except, perhaps, a single statement about the brand. Locate an example of this type and explain what Meaning you Think the advertiser is attempting to convey in each instance. Provide the link/name/photo of company/organization and ad. Ask a friend to offer their interpretation of the same ad and then compare the two. What conclusions can you draw from this exercise?

Answer #1

majorly the big brands prefer to advertise in this fashion, for example in the above ad, image of ferrari car is given along with single ststement that only those who dare, truely live.

for big brands like ferrari, they need not mention in a small ad on what they make and how good they are in making their product. whole world knows about the quality of car that ferrari makes, its a cult brand and a symobol of social prestige to own a ferrari. hence they prefer to attach the taglines that takes them above all level.

i showed the same ad to my friend and he said wow what an ad, only ferrari like brand could manage to post such a bold statement, this takes me to the colculusion that once you have made entire world aware about your product and its quality, there is no need to keep singing the same lines on every ad that you throw in, you rather would go above the imgination level of your customer and make them feel on top of the world. this kind of positioning is done mostly by cult brands.
