What would be some of the major impacts of global climate change on water, food, health, and ecosystems?

Some of the major impacts of global climate change on water, food, health and ecosystems are:

Food:

  • The vagaries of monsoon and rain are impacted by the climate change and which in turn is causing randomness in outputs of the crops, leading to scarcity of food in natural forms.
  • In terms of source of non-vegetarian food, there are severe breeding problems of animal and poultry, as weather is becoming hotter productivity of animal farms are impacted and so there is shortage in supply of raw material for meat .
  • Due to climate change a lot of fishes in sea as well as in land water are unable to survive, this is mostly due to change in water temperature, which is sudden and these cold-blooded animals are unable to adapt so quickly. So, there is natural dearth of sea food as well.

Water:

As the sea levels are rising due to global warming, inland water level are mixed with sea water at different location, this makes the water non-drinkable and required higher degree of refining before usage.

Again, due to randomness in heat and seasons, the water tables are not maintained and so the waterbodies are either overflowing, causing havoc in terms of floods or drying up of the water bodies causing lack of usable water.

Again due to higher temperature of water bodies a lot of microbe which act as cleansing agent for the water bodies are unable to survive, thereby making it tougher for the water bodies to self-cleanse. So now the natural cleaning is impacted and hence required artificial cleaning.

Health:

Due to all the above scarcity there is more intake of artificial foods and unhealthy water consumption, which in turn causes several heath problems in normal humans.

There is less fresh air and climate has become hotter, due to which human body has become less immune, leading to more communicable diseases.

Due to Ozone layer depletion now more concentrated UV rays reach the surface of the earth, these are known to cause cancer and similar other health problems.

Ecosystem:

Due to higher temperatures many organisms are unable to survive and at the same time plants have severe conditions to survive due to lack of water and drier environment.

This has imbalanced the food chain, and there by large scale deforestation and global warming has caused extinction of several species on land, water and air. So several ecosystems have directly impacted due to all the above.
