Your company in Canada thrives on recognizing employee performance through a variety of non-financial rewards that have been well received and appreciated by staff. As well, your staff is highly intrinsically motivated to do the job. However, you have recently expanded operations into a new country where this is not valued. Financial rewards are expected - even demanded in exchange for high-quality work and meeting deadlines. What will you do?

Answer #1

It's always important to adapt to the situations and working conditions.

Hence, initially I would definitely keep financial rewards as source of motivation for the employees.

However, over the time I will convey the importance of non financial rewards to my employees so that they start focusing on them rather than just focusing on money.

Thus, over a time there can be both financial and non financial rewards for good performance.

Thanks.
