What is Supply to Inventory philiosophy of scheduling ?

Ans : Supply to Inventory Philiosophy of scheduling is nothing but Materials requirements planning and this is a way of scheduling the ordering process or production of parts or raw materials so they will be available when needed to meet the master production schedule (a specific statement of exactly what will be produced over a given time frame) of finished goods.

How is just-in-time scheduling different from the supply-to-inventory philosophy of scheduling?

Ans :

This approach to inventory and production management brings considerable cost savings from reduced inventory levels. However for Supply to inventroy philosophy of scheduling is planned before the porduction process is taken place.

MRP is a computations methodology that uses a product’s bill of materials, a plant’s inventory records, the production schedule and supplier’s lead times to generate an ordering schedule that identifies when to replenish the inventory of parts or raw materials to ensure that the parts are available for production.
