Answer #1

1) The most important thing that I will take into consideration to move into a more integrative approach in bargaining with union representatives will include establishing clear and effective communication with union members so that there is no scope left for misunderstandings, confusions, doubts. Effective communication will in turn also ensure that the union complaints, grievances , issues and concerns are understood and duly addressed which will prevent work stoppages or strikes. Further I as an employer negotiator will ensure that assertive attitude is used in responding to their demands or complaints.

2) The most useful strategies which can help to maintain long term relationship between the company and the workforce should entail :

Maintaining good transparency with the union members about policies, norms, procedures etc.

To be authentic and reasonable with demands made to management so that interest of both is looked after rather than acting selfish.

Addressing quickly to the complaints , issues, concerns and problems of union members and holding meetings to find a solution with mutual agreement which benefits both parties equally.

Using assertive tactics such as motivational power, convincing skills, patient attitude, creating impression, etc instead of anger, force , threat or retribution, while bargaining with the union members in order to establish trust and loyalty with them.
