Enteric pathogens are the organism which cause infection of the intestine.The pathogens could be bacteria, viruses, protozoa or fungi.

Enteric viruses are a group of enteric pathogens which survive in the environment for a longer time.They when present in soil with even little humidity can survive for 2 months against any environment but without water it can survive only 2 to 3 days

So one group " Salmonella " can survive in any environment for a longer period in water and soil.They resist temperature between 8-45°C,low oxygen and a pH of 4-8+. Unfortunately our body cannot fight this infection without medical help.
