Food also supplies micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) and phytochemicals that don't provide calories but serve a variety of critical functions to ensure the body operates optimally.Some medical professionals believe a low serum albumin level indicates a need for protein repletion.

Nutrition therapy is given to control the disorder or problem due to the nutrition such as in case of diabetes, a nutrition therapy is given to control the level of diabetes. If the daily dietary intake is ingested as multiple small meals (six or seven), postprandial glycemic peaks are reduced. It is necessary to monitor patient's nutritional value so as to give a better care to the patient.
