Please answer to question #2.

question #1:The video “None of us want to stand still” identified policies they implemented throughout specific programs to improve overall treatment for individuals with disabilities (listed below). As you look to your future as a leader in healthcare, what steps can you take within your organization to implement these or other policies to improve access, care and treatment of individuals with disabilities.

  • Implementing vision through policies & programs
  • Hiring people with disabilities
  • Establishing standards of Care
  • Addressing sensory needs
  • Education and training
  • Student driven education
  • Training security officers as allies in care
  • Portable health records
  • Providing transitional care
  • Educating nurses and direct support staff
  • Collaborating with the disability community
  • Question #2:The video describes the collaboration of the creation of these policies and described who was at the table involved in the discussion: they described a Patient care technician, nurses from Rush, Nurses from Georgetown, Physicians, and the inclusion of individuals with disabilities. Why is it so critically important to include all these people in the creation of new policies? They just scratched the surface of people who were at the table… can you think of any other people would have been included? Why would their inclusion be helpful to the creation of these policies?

Answer-2

The most important distinction between people with intellectual disability and the general population is that people with intellectual disability have more intense support needs, and therefore need supports that are both qualitatively and quantitatively different than supports needed by most others in the general Population .so it is critically important to include all these people in creation of new policies.

People with the disease such like autism also have been included in this policies.(other related diseases)

Disability inclusion allows for people with disabilities to take advantage of the benefits of the same health promotion and prevention activities experienced by people who do not have a disability. Treating them with respect and treating them with deceny can change a lot.
