Explain why the actions of the beta1-adrenergic antagonists are similar to those of the calcium channel blockers.
I hope you will rate my answer positively -------
BETA1- ADRENERGIC ANTAGONISTS ---- They block epinephrine and nor epinephrine to bind to beta 1 receptors in heart or nerves which reduces the blood pressure and heart rate, and prevent the future heart attack.
CALCIUM CHANNEL BLOCKERS------- In cytoplasmic membrane their is pore which regulates the entry ofcalcium ions in cell. In patients with high blood pressure calcium channel blocker is given. They also have important role in smooth muscle contraction and relaxation.
Beta 1-adrenergic antagonists mimic to those of calcium channel blockers because both decreases the velocity of conduction of impulse to throughout the AV node. They have intrinsic sympathomimetic activities and has similar effect on heart also , so should be given with caution to patients.
Thankyou.
