The implication is safe new strains of plants/foods that exhibit specific nutritional characteristics will be better for society as a whole. Example, you can edit an organism to have the taste of sodium without the negative consequences. Should this be done? Why or why not? Would you use such foods? Why or why not? Yes, this should definitely be done. The simple reason is that it will do no harm to society. In fact, it is known to have specific nutritional characteristics and is considered beneficial for society as a whole which is a good thing. Altering the taste without the negative consequences is another good thing about the product. If given a chance, I would definitely use such food items as it would be beneficial for my body, and at the same time, I will not have to compromise with the taste. Yes, these food items should be labeled following the standard guidelines approved by FDA.
