The brain and spinal cord is covered by certain membranes, known as meninges. The inflammation of meninges are called Meningitis.  Diagnosis and confirmation of meningities is performed by checking the CSF specimen taking from the spinal canal. The exact space for placing a needle to check the CSF for meningitis is surrounding the subarachanoid space.  

The drug usually placed into the epidural space are called steroids. Some times both analgesics and steroids can be used. These drugs reduces pain and inflammation.

The lateral horn is a small lateral projection of grey matter in the spinal cord. The lateral horn contains neurons of sympathetic nervous system.The sympathetic nervous system is a part of autonomic nervous system.
