As a Medical Assistant I would educate them on basic things to critical things.So I would recommend continuous hand washing,wearing of gowns,masks and gloves.Educate them on importance of personal protective equipment.Also educate them regarding the use of solutions that would disinfect them completely.

Major types of infectious agents are Bacteria,Virus,Fungus,Protozoa,Helminthes,Parasites etc.

Infection cycle :

Infectious agent : This is the organism that causes the infection.

Reservoir : Is the source where the agent enters to store.

Susceptible host : Is the person where the infectious agent finds an environment of developing itself.

Means of transmission : This is the mode used by the infectious agent to enter that may be the air,droplets etc.

portal of entry is the place where the the infectious agent enters

portal of exit is the place where the agent exits.
