Individuals trying to lose weight or increase their energy levels commonly resort to various diets and dietary supplements such as Paleo diet, Atkins diet, Mediterranean diet, DASH diet, and various weight loss/energy marketed supplements. There are number of various diets and diet supplements that evolved for the purpose of weight loss, increasing energy, control Blood pressure or glucose level etc. Example s of various diets are:

1. Concerns:
There are many health concerns existing about the individual those who adapted a specific diet for a long time or taking any dietary supplements regularly . There is no perfect diet , as each diet is varied in its response with each individuals . Some of the concerns are:
* Each diet is having certain limitation. Sudden change in one's dietary habit may alter the body's adaptability. For example: A Sudden change to Low - Carb diet may make some people miserable about their life and health. In certain people The Low - Carb diet can cause an increase in LDL ( Low density lipoprotein) and rarely Diabetic Ketoacidosis.
* Certain diets excludes animal products completely, such type of diet may be deficient of complete proteins and many vitamins.
* Continous dependency on Dietary supplements or Vitamin tablets without Doctors order is dangerous. Many dietary supplements such as Ginkgo bilabo, fish oil supplements etc can increase the risk of bleeding, especially in case of a surgery or major wound.
Abnormal increase in certain Vitamin levels in the body may cause various body problems.
2. Best diet:
There is no best diet as such , for every diet there are certain benefits as well as limitations. One diet that was effective for one person may not be effective in another person's case as his / her body and health status may different. For example: certain diet that caused a healthy weight loss in X , but the same Diet style may cause some GI disturbances like Constipation or Diarrhoea in another individual.
Repots show that a survey study of this year , concluded that the best diet is ' Mediteranian diet and DADH diet and the worst food is ' Keto diet' . Mediteranian diet contains a choice of wide variety of fruits, vegetables, fish and sea foods, whole grains, spices and herbs and olive oil , and in a moderate amount poultry and egg, dairy products. It restricts all type of refined oils , and processed foods. This diet helps in preventing heart attack and stroke, also increases the longevity of life and protects the people from type 2 diabetes. .
DASH diet proven as very effective in controlling the Blood pressure. It ia diet with less Sodium and sugar intake .
3. Supplements are beneficial..?
Many herbal and nutritional supplements are available today. Public is accessing to many varieties of vitamin or mineral supplements or herbal supplements. But it is not wise to take, supplements without Doctor's prescription. Muti vitaminosis or Hypervitaminosis is condition of more Vitamin A in the body and is characterised by bone pain , vision and skin problems. It may occur in people who take the regular vitamin supplements.
Most of the nutritional supplements may interact with other drugs and may produce toxicity or severe side effects of the drugs.
For example Garlic or Fish oil supplements may increase antiplatelet activity, if it is taking with the Aspirin tablet and there by these supplements increases the risk of bleeding.
4. (Vitamin C supplement: Once in my Childhood I had a problem of Gum bleeding. Even with a hard touch or with normal brushing, the gum used to bleed. After examining the Doctor told to take Vitamin C supplements and to take Vitamin C rich food. After taking a prescribed period of time , the gum bleeding got reduced. )
After doing the research on Supplements and diets, (I) don't want to continue any supplements, that is not prescribed by a physician. As many of the supplements are artificially or synthetically producing, it may contain many additives , that may have serious effects in the body. It can alter our normal metabolism. It is better to take Vitamins and other minerals in the diet itself through food items. That will be safe for our body. Everyone must have the basic knowledge on nutritious food and food that are rich in certain Vitamins and minerals. So that they can include such type of dishes in the diet.
